I am very pleased to announce that Preston Development Company has joined forces with me to maximize the potential of Carolina Colours. By exchanging debt for equity, bank financing of the development lots and acreage has been eliminated, removing any future concern about default or foreclosure. And with an added capital infusion, our swimming facility is nearing completion, with tennis to be constructed next spring. Preston and I worked together to complete the Landfall community in Wilmington several years ago, and my team and theirs are excited about renewing our relationship. While I am no longer the majority owner of the development real estate, I will continue, as in the past, to manage the operation and to live in the community. We already have a great project with active, interesting residents; we now can assure both the current and future residents of long term stability.

Congratulations to the team of Danny and Chris Gaston, Bill Moloney and Luigo Montesano, the toournament champions.

Special thanks to Chef Katherine for a wondersful meal, and to David Barnett and Mary Ann Ohsol, the event coordinators, as well as to the dozens of volunteers that made the event special (not to mention a whole lot of fun).

We are pleased to report that the construction of the Carolina Colours swimming pool and bath house is on schedule, and we still anticipate a grand opening Memorial Day weekend. With the pool and most of the decking now in place, we can see how large 10,000 square feet of decking is! Pool furniture has been ordered, and there is a lot of buzz among the property owners as the opening is highly anticipated.

More to come, including pictures, as the job is brought to a conclusion.

In the March issue of Business North Carolina, CarolinaEast Medical Center of New Bern, NC was ranked as one of the top hospitals in North Carolina for cardiac care (and one of the thrity best overall hospitals in the state as well). In addition Healthgrades recently named CarolinaEast one of America’s 100 best hospitals for Cardiac Surgery TM, and one of the five best in the state. We that live in Carolina Colours can be proud of the high level of medical care provided to us through our highly trained medical professionals that practice locally. On a number of occasions our residents have commented that the level of medical care received in New Bern surpassed that which they received prior to relocating here.
