Sylvan Heights Bird Park in Scotland Neck, NC

Yesterday, Joan and I joined our neighbors, Val and Larry, for a visit
to the Sylvan Heights Bird Park in Scotland Neck, NC.  Birds of every
continent are represented here where they are studied, and many of
their number who are endangered are bred in the Avian Breeding Center.
The park founder and staff members work with foreign nations whose
endangered indigenous bird species are threatened.

The facility is huge with easy trails throughout to observe the birds
in vast open areas resembling their native habitat.

About 1.5 hrs drive from New Bern.  When grandchildren arrive for a
visit, they may well wish to see this one-of-kind facility.
