This year’s theme Spirited Skirts and the Shadows They Cast
celebrates the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage and will feature some of
New Bern’s most daunting dames…and the men who loved them.

What is Ghostwalk?

Ghostwalk is a family-friendly event that combines historic spirits, talented local volunteer actors, historic sites, and a fun-filled, creative environment.  It is NOT a haunted house or a homes tour.

Ghostwalk is a self-guided event that allows you to step into New Bern’s past.  Meet spirits at 13 different ghost sites in historic downtown New Bern, including homes, theaters, and Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Enjoy the ghostly actors who will share their spirited stories in the very locations that their characters lived and visited.  Your ticket is good for all three nights (see schedule below) and contains your map with ghost sites and food sites for you to enjoy in any order you like.

Ghostwalk Schedule:

Thursday, October 24 from 11 am to 10 pm: Kick off Ghostwalk by eating at Morgan’s Tavern & Grill.  A generous portion of the proceeds from the entire day go to support the Historical Society.

Thursday, October 24 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm – 4 sites only open:  
♦ Cedar Grove Cemetery with 5 haunting historical sketches
♦ The historic Athens and Masonic Theatres with exciting show previews & sketches
♦ The Attmore-Oliver House with hilarious skit featuring the Dowd Family & the Veri-Good Bakery for delicious treats

Friday & Saturday, October 25-26 from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm – all sites open:
♦ 9 historic downtown homes featuring historic characters from New Bern’s past
♦ Cedar Grove Cemetery with 5 haunting historical sketches
♦ The historic Athens and Masonic Theatres with exciting show previews & sketches
♦ The Attmore-Oliver House with hilarious skit featuring the Dowd Family
♦ Free TapSnap Souvenir Photo Booth and the Veri-Good Bakery behind the Attmore-Oliver house
+ Historic churches will be selling food and/or providing tours.
