Whether you love beach music, the glory days of crooners, or just want a way to help local veterans, nationally-known musicians from across the country are descending into New Bern this summer for the perfect mix of the three.

Bill Stafford of Stafford Entertainment & Talent and “Lewis n Clark,” made up of the married singing duo Von Lewis and Abbey Clark, are helping organize “Stars & Stripes,” a night of musical entertainment to benefit Whitehurst-Ware American Legion Post No. 539 in New Bern to celebrate the national organization’s 100th birthday.

The show, “Stars & Stripes,” is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Grover C. Fields Performing Arts Center, 2000 Dr. M.L.K. Blvd. Tickets sales will open to the public on Aug. 1.

The event will feature beach music from The Embers’ co-founder Jackie Gore, and classic hits throughout the decades from Lewis n Clark, and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. – Murphy was the winner of “America’s Got Talent” in 2011 for his Frank Sinatra-like style.

MC for the event will be Miss North Carolina 1975 & Miss America Runner-Up, Connie Dorn Rist — who was involved in classic USO shows. Comedian William White of Washington, N.C.’s I.C. Improv will be co-hosting the event.

Attendees will be able to get autographs and photos with the talent following the show.
